Introduction

  • Movement Labs is building a network of Move-based blockchains, with flagship networks M1 and M2.
  • M1 is a community-first blockchain providing the highest possible TPS through Move, instant finality, native day-zero access to mass liquidity, and modular customizations.
  • M2 will be the first Move Layer-2 on Ethereum. It will support Sui Move, Aptos Move, and also our embedded EVM interpreter MEVM-empowering both Sui, Aptos, and EVM users to use the L2.

Fundamentals

  • Movement Labs focuses on creating modular infrastructure for blockchain and decentralized applications using the Move programming language. Their goal is to enhance security, performance, and user experience in decentralized networks.
  • M1 Layer 1 Framework, their initial product is a Solidity-compatible, vertically composable, and horizontally scalable Layer 1 framework. It integrates both EVM and Move liquidity, facilitating modular and interoperable app chains.
  • M2 is a Layer 2 rollup on Ethereum that integrates the Move Virtual Machine (Move VM). This rollup aims to provide enhanced performance and security, supporting over 145,000 TPS by leveraging Celestia for data availability.
  • Move is a safe and secure programming language designed by Facebook for smart contracts that emphasizes ownership and safety. It ensures that assets cannot be duplicated or dropped accidentally and allows for fine-grained access control through accounts and module privileges.
  • Movement Labs works with notable liquidity providers such as BenQi and GMX, and is compatible with Aptos and Sui Move codes. This ensures broad interoperability and access to extensive liquidity pools from day one.

Potential Rewards

  • Movement Labs has not yet launched its own token, but users who actively collect points through their initiatives may likely receive an airdrop if a token is introduced in the future.
  • The airdrop will prioritize community members, drawing inspiration from models like the Celestia airdrop. This ensures those active in the ecosystem are rewarded.
  • To be eligible, users are encouraged to participate in Movement Labs’ testnet and community programs. Activities include completing social tasks, exploring the testnet, and earning points through the Galxe campaign.
  • The airdrop will likely include members from the Aptos, Cosmos and Celestia communities emphasizing the importance of these networks in the allocation strategy.

Features

  • High TPS and Instant Finality: M1, Movement Labs' Layer 1 blockchain, provides high transactions per second (TPS) and instant finality, making it highly efficient for decentralized applications.
  • Move Programming Language: Move is a safe and secure language emphasizing asset scarcity and access control, ensuring that assets cannot be duplicated or dropped unintentionally, and access is strictly controlled.
  • Modular Customizations: Movement Labs supports extensive modular customizations, enabling developers to tailor blockchain networks to specific needs, including unique virtual machines, fee regimes, and token economics.
  • Compatibility with Aptos and Sui Move: M1 is fully compatible with existing Aptos Move code and will soon support Sui Move, allowing developers to leverage existing tools and liquidity without additional costs.
  • Decentralized Sequencer: M2 employs a decentralized sequencer, enabling sub-second finality and significantly reducing transaction costs to less than $0.01 per transaction.
