China Daily, an English-language newspaper under the Chinese Communist Party's Publicity Department, is venturing into the metaverse and NFT space. They have announced a 2.813 million Chinese yuan ($390,000) grant for a third-party contractor to design an NFT platform. The selected firm, whether Chinese or foreign, should specialize in blockchain and have a high-capacity mainnet capable of handling over 10,000 transactions per second.
Contractors must submit applications by October 17 and complete the platform design within three months. The China Daily NFT Platform aims to promote the influence of Chinese Civilization using technologies like the metaverse, VR, AR, blockchain, NFTs, big data, and cloud computing.
The platform's requirements include the ability to upload, display, and manage digital collections in various multimedia forms and support multiple collection types. It should also feature pricing, bidding, limited-time functions, and multi-currency settlement.
It's worth noting that China has banned cryptocurrency transactions since 2021, though blockchain entities still operate under strict oversight.
