Flipping Land in the Metaverse

Published at: September 19, 2022

Recently, Looksrare, an NFT marketplace, asked in a tweet: “ What’s the most ETH you ever banked on a single NFT flip?” Metaverse architect @integ03 with @thelandvault responded: “65E… 6x6 sandbox land. Made tons of ETH from flipping land.” Could it be that metaverse land is the way for a new generation to make their life’s fortune?

Most metaverse land projects are written using the language of Unity (focused on performance) or Unreal Engine (focused on hyper-real graphics). @MetropolisWorld markets itself as the capital city of the metaverse, @webaverse is an immersive open source virtual world operating system, and @BeyondEarth_NFT is a fully immersive MMORPG. There are also, of course, @TheSandboxGame where @worldofwomennft recently launched WoW Tower, and @oncyber, where WoW/G holders have till end of the month to decide whether to claim an Origin or Nebula Residence or not. @SpatialXR is another popular metaverse world for culture, exhibitions, events, and experiences.

So, would I buy land for land’s sake?

No, because anyone can choose to create a metaverse if they wanted. It’s more of the content of what’s created on the land that makes it valuable, and determines the community it will attract. Compatibility among various created worlds may also prove to be vital when the metaverse decides to get linked up.
