The never the controversial Grand Theft Auto 6, the upcoming game in the super-popular series, has had a great deal of speculation online regarding its probable inclusion of cryptocurrency. The reason this hullabaloo began was due to certain recent claims that went around.
A crypto influencer recently tweeted that it is going to support Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Tether transactions. This, accompanied by a trailer, blew the tweet out of proportion.
There was no official confirmation from Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive to make things this way. No announcement or trailer, as part of its official release, mentioned it.
Many people have spoken about cryptocurrency in GTA 6 before. Similar claims were made earlier in the year, following an X post and possibly a faked leaked trailer with "BUY $BTC," though no proof for them was found.
In late 2022, Rockstar Games banned the use of cryptocurrencies and NFTs on player-run GTA 5 servers. While Take-Two Interactive is also keen on the blockchain space, acquiring Zynga, there has yet to be any indication that this will be replicated in the case of GTA 6.
The game is due to be released in 2025. Until then, the inclusion of which features the game holds will be known through new announcements. Currently, working on and releasing cryptocurrency with GTA 6 is not confirmed.
