Manifold Offers a Creator-Controlled Marketplace Blocker

Most people in the space are familiar with Manifold, a creator-centric minting app with a variety of free tools designed for creators. Their most recent tool is the Marketplace Blocker, which is designed to enable creators to filter which marketplaces their collectors can sell on, generally based on whether the marketplace supports royalties. This is the latest market response to the ecosystem-wide zero-royalty debacle sparked by Sudoswap and comes in the wake of Opensea’s filter, which takes control out of creators’ hands. Opensea’s controversial move, which creators were not happy with, prompted the more sovereign filter offered by Manifold.

Manifold notes that though they are providing the tool, they don’t support its use, but that creators should be allowed to make their own choices. Some collectors have responded that they wouldn’t collect from an artist who blocks their choice of marketplace options, and for some creators, that’s the whole point. It also filters the kinds of people who collect their work.
