Metamask is stirring up the privacy-conscious crypto crowd with their most recent update. Consensys, the creator of Metamask, revealed their new Terms of Service on November 23rd, which state that if you’re using Infura as your default RPC provider, then Infura will begin tracking IP addresses of all transactions through the wallet and also connect all wallets that share an IP address. This has many people concerned about the impact it will have on decentralization, privacy, and personal sovereignty, which are the core ethos trifecta of crypto. However, people are already finding ways around this by using VPNs. You can also use Alchemy instead of Infura as your RPC provider or just use a different wallet.
