Polygon Earn's Decrypt's "Project of the Year"

In 2022, the web3 market wasn’t looking too sexy, especially after exchanges falling like dominoes all year, culminating in the FTX tragedy, but the Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) blockchain, Polygon, was still able to have massive growth. They attracted a plethora of major companies, including Starbucks, Reddit, Instagram, Nike, Donald Trump, and more, which is why Decrypt has dubbed Polygon their “project of the year.” The most stunning win was attracting Reddit, which successfully launched 5 million NFTs to a community that has contingents that are generally, and vocally, anti-crypto. Despite the opposition, Reddit’s avatar collection ended up bringing 4.3 million new, unique wallets to the ecosystem.

Instagram is another major Polygon player. They will be rolling out minting photos and art to over 1 billion users, and Starbucks is following suit by launching its Odyssey Rewards program to its global customer base. 

Another important feature is that attracted Decrypt's attention is a new program named zkEVM. Web3 experts believe that the zk program is the future and will bring massive scalability to the chain, and that is why Polygon was nominated as the "Crypto Project of the Year" by the web3 news site, Decrypt.
