In a major win for mass adoption of Web3, Reddit has ventured into the world of blockchain-based assets by launching a 40K generative avatar collection and marketplace on the Polygon network (an Ethereum L2) for users of their social app. So far, over three million Redditors have used the platform to create new crypto wallets, most of which were used to purchase NFT avatars. The launch of Reddit’s new NFT-based marketplace has seen massive success, and this, along with Twitter and Meta’s new and expanding blockchain integration, is a clear market signal there is a real demand for blockchain-based profile pictures and that the general public is ready for mass adoption of Web3.
