Samsung Expands Cryptocurrency Wallet

Published at: January 25, 2023

Samsung has combined its Samsung pay and Samsung apps into a merged wallet app that is now available in 29 countries. This new, comprehensive digital wallet allows users to access ID cards, payment cards, tickets, boarding passes, digital keys, and more, in one place. Initially released for testing in six markets, Samsung has since made the app available in 21 more countries and has now announced expansion into eight more regions.

Among the countries currently able to access the app are Bahrain, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Finland, and Denmark, with Australia, Brazil, Canada, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, and India being granted access at the end of January. This unified wallet will also allow all users in these regions the opportunity to track and monitor their cryptocurrency portfolios, using the Samsung Blockchain app, which works with a SmartChain ecosystem to safely use and store digital keys. All information stored on the app is also protected by defense-grade security, Samsung Knox, which uses fingerprint ID and encryption, helping to ensure that only the device user will have access to any private data.
