Sports Illustrated Leads NFT Ticketing Revolution

Published at: May 04, 2023

Sports Illustrated are revolutionizing the event ticketing industry as they are launching a new NFT ticketing platform called 'Box Office.' The platform is built on the Polygon network and is a collaboration with Sports Illustrated Tickets, the ticketing marketplace of Sports Illustrated, and Consensys, the company behind MetaMask. The aim of the Box Office platform is to become the first-ever comprehensive NFT ticketing service. It will allow event owners and organizers to connect with their audience in a whole new way through NFTs. Additionally, the platform aims to disrupt event tickets as we know them, by including NFT collectibles, highlights, and unique offers, such as VIP access, exclusive content, and meet-and-greets with artists. These will be called 'Super Tickets.'

Many are expecting NFT ticketing to become mainstream. This is because of the added security, transparency, authenticity, potential for increased resale value, and the ability for creators and event owners to earn ongoing revenue from secondary market sales. Sports Illustrated Tickets' CEO, David Lane, said that blockchain is, without a doubt, the future of ticketing. Furthermore, he said that with Box Office, users now have access to an advanced ticketing experience that transforms the conventional ticket into engaging and collectible content.
