Although they’ve slowed down since their peak in March, NFT and crypto-related trademark filings are up over 200% compared to last year, despite the brutal and ongoing crypto winter. Companies like Warner Bros., Starbucks, Disney, Coca-Cola, Budweiser, and others continued to double down on their NFT involvement in 2022, and others seem to be planning to join the game. Major food vendors, including Kraft, Del Monte, and In-and-Out Burger, have filed a flurry of NFT-related trademark applications, and major payment companies appear to be getting ready to roll out crypto compatibility on their platforms, including Visa, PayPal, and Western Union. Despite the bear market, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office filing records indicate that companies clearly remain bullish on Web3 and the future of crypto.
