In 2022, Melania Trump tried selling her first NFT but didn't go as planned. It was a picture of her in a white hat at an event in the White House. Reports said she bought it herself for $185,000.
Now, she's back with something new—a gold necklace with her signature on it for $245 each. And if you buy one, you'll also get an NFT version.
Donald Trump has also jumped on the NFT train. He released an NFT of his mugshot from when he was charged with breaking election laws in Georgia. And he's made millions from selling baseball card-style NFTs of himself in different costumes.
But NFTs might not be the golden ticket they seem. The value of Trump's first NFT collection dropped by 50% shortly after he released the second edition. And in the last three months, trading volumes for both collections have dropped by over 30%.
Despite the risks, Melania Trump is still trying her luck with NFTs. She's selling NFTs of her portrait and even one of an exploding rose. She says the money from the rose NFT will go to a charity for kids leaving foster care.
On another website, she's selling NFTs of things like the Declaration of Independence, moments from Donald Trump's presidency, and even the moon landing.
