Tuvalu to Become First Nation to Move to the Metaverse

The island nation of Tuvalu, located midway between Hawaii and Australia in the South Pacific Ocean, could become the first country in the world to exist solely in the metaverse. Climate change threatens to upend societies and economies as we know them, and Tuvalu could become its first real casualty. Rising sea levels could cause the entire country to become engulfed in water. The nation is an archipelago of nine islands, and two of them are already shrinking due to rising sea levels. They plan is to create a digital twin in the metaverse. In another historic first, they became the first country to call for a fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty at a UN climate conference.
